Launching Wales’ first ever Popeye’s restaurant

The Company: Folk
The Problem: In 2023, American multinational chain Popeye’s opened restaurants in Wales for the first time ever. They approached Folk to help them create a launch campaign to secure them placement in Welsh press and peak the interest of the Welsh public.
The Solution: Coincidentally, “Chicken” in Welsh translates to “cyw iâr” which sounds a lot like QR. Making the audience work for their chicken, we launch a “cyw iâr” campaign around Cardiff’s most popular student areas, designing and publishing bilingual posters featuring QR codes that could be scanned to unlock free chicken sandwiches.
